Less blogs, more labels

We're realising, possibly much later than everyone else, that we've got too many blimmin' blogs.

We started the bLeog when we had much more non-family posts, to let readers go straight to the baby pics, and I automatically did the same for Angharad. However, these days we're struggling to work out which of the four blogs to post to.

So, despite just having started Angharad's blog, we're going to retire both it and the bLeog, leaving them there for posterity but making all new updates to Board Acres. (I'm going to keep the Galleries blog because it is so self indulgent and of niche interest.)

You may have noticed at the top of the green set of panels just to the right of the posts, a new panel titled 'Read about...'. In future we'll be labelling our posts, so if you want to filter just the post of Bonzo, find that window and click his ginger name. The size of each word in the panel reflects the number of posts with that label. I've labelled the more recent posts as a kick-off.

If anyone disagrees violently, or has any other suggestions, comment away...

In hozzie, with itchy feet

By the way, the reason for the slow blogging and relative quietness (family) is that the girls are still in hospital. It's an irritating formality -- Em had tested positive for 'group B strep' at the end of her pregnancy, a routine condition that means she needed penicillin twice during the birth, but it was so quick (about 4 hours from starting to time contractions to waaah) she didn't have time for the second shot, which means they have to do bloods and antibiotics for Angharad, and the results take 24-48 hrs to come back, and blah blah blah. There's clearly nothing wrong with her, everyone's in agreement, but we still have to wait for these damn culture results to prove it, which means another night there when we'd rather be back here feathering nests.

It's annoying, and made more so by the fact that the birth centre's organic outlook clearly clashes with the more technical medicos', and we've felt at times caught in the middle of surprisingly open mutual suspicion. The birth centre have been absolutely brilliant, and I'm inclined towards their more personal, caring methods, but I'd still rather they kept their politics to themselves.

Anyway. Could be back home tomorrow (we'll push for it), but Friday at the latest.

(It's worth a final note that A had her bloods done up in baby ICU, being where the paediatric registrar lives. That was sobering. Seeing the needle go in her tiny hand was quite manageable compared to what the parents of those poor unfortunate kids up there must be experiencing. We can cope with a couple of days of annoyance.)

'Angharad'

For those wondering about her name, 'Angharad' is Welsh, and means 'much loved'. It links her to the country that has such a special place in both our hearts, as well as having an especially important place at the furrier end of Graham family history. Em knew a few Angharads at school; it's not an uncommon Welsh name. I (probably more so than Emily) have always preferred the less common names. We're really happy with our choice.

Although a Welsh speaker will have their own, more authentic pronunciation, we're happy with 'an-HA-rud'. Shortenings and pet names will suggest themselves in good time but we're guessing 'Hari' might be an option.

Her middle names are the same as Leo's, for the same reasons. 'Graham' and 'Mather' are our past-life alter-egos, that we'd like to keep going for another generation. It didn't seem right to give them both to Leo and then choose new ones for her, or to use one and not the other, especially as we were so sure they were right for him. If you're going to have good reasons for choosing middle names, we thought, there's no rule against using them twice!

Just going back to the hospital with Leo to see them both. More photos are coming! Give me 24 hrs :)
